CHIEF DEPUTY COUNTY CLERKS
The County Clerk is the one county official whose office tracks the important events in the lives of each and every Texan. The clerks office is with you from the day you are born, until after you have passed on. The day that you are born, we record your birth certificate. As time goes by, you chose to get married; we of course record your marriage license. As more time goes by you purchase some property or a house and we keep that record as well. At some point in your life, you may choose to start your own business; we record your "assumed name certificate. With all that property, business dealings and the birth certificates from your children, a will becomes necessary. The Clerks office records and often files for safe keeping your will. Of course after you have died, the Clerks office keeps the record of the probate of your will. Adapted from "Counties, the Glue that holds Texas Together" Texas Association of Counties.
