TAYLOR COUNTY COMMISSIONER

Chuck Statler is the Commissioner for Taylor County Precinct 4 and is currently serving his third consecutive term; having first been elected in 1998.

 

He was born in Abilene, Texas and was raised in Breckenridge.  He is a graduate of Abilene Christian University with a Bachelor of Applied Studies

 

He is a veteran of the United States Army having served in Europe in the Military Police Corps.

 

Prior to his public service, he was an Advertising Executive for KTAB-TV for 15 years.

 

Since becoming Commissioner, he represents Taylor County on a number of boards and committees.  He is currently the President of the 118 county member West Texas County Judges and Commissioners Association, a member of the Mental Health Jail Diversion Task Force, Board of Directors of the Texas Association of Counties, the Executive Committee of the West Central Texas Council of Governments as well as the West Texas Regional Public Defender’s Office for Capital Cases.

 

He has served on the state Education Committee for County Judges and Commissioners Association of Texas and has also served two terms as National President for the Association of Chamber Ambassadors.

 

He and his wife, Sherri, President of Christian Homes and Family Services, are about to celebrate 25 years of marriage.  They have one daughter who is currently attending Abilene Public Schools.

 

His hobbies include playing church softball; gardening and occasionally, he can be heard on radio as a play-by-play announcer for local high school football.

 

Chuck says often, “There aren’t many men my age that look forward to going to work each day as much as I do because I have the pleasure of serving the people of Taylor County.”
